With roots buried deeply in Appalachia and influences spanning much of Europe and Africa, bluegrass music is more than a musical genre. It acts as a common language of sharp guitar melodies and banjo runs that have bridged cultural and generational gaps for more than a century. Today, many of the most talented Bluegrass musicians and passionate admirers play and live throughout Brooklyn, New York. This Meetup is to serve as a public forum for sharing and planning events related to bluegrass musi …

I'd love to get together with other artists and musicians who play Bluegrass and Country music and are passionate about the Gospel genre. We can get together and jam and have a great time!
We are a group of people who love to sing. Bluegrass harmony is easy to learn, so it makes the singing that much more enjoyable. We have 2 professional musicans/instructors who come with their guitars and voices. We meet from usually in the vicinity of Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY. The cost is $30 per person per class. This may sound like a lot, but we have great instructors, and the enjoyment and camaraderie make it worthwhile. I just found without the professional leadership the group would get st …
This meetup caters to an advanced beginner/intermediate level player. The jam happens every SECOND and FOURTH MONDAY of the MONTH -- even when I forget to post it on the site. As the jam has evolved, I have hired a rotating group of leaders who lead the jam from 7:30-9:30. This means that I must charge a $5.00 fee, so we can pay a leader. Each leader will choose 25-30 of their favorite bluegrass/old time songs. Click on the "Pages" tab at the top of the page for a description of our leaders and …

A home for all acoustic players, singers, and people who like to play unplugged in general. While all levels are welcome, we are an Intermediate to Advanced group. We currently have two main alternating Meetups: - One is a "Chord jam" where we all play and sing the same song at once, and the experts get a chance to solo. - The other is a "Performance Night" where we each take turns playing a song solo or with a friend. These are usually blues, rags, bluegrass, country or also folk/modern, d …

There are amazing musicians who play mostly for tips- and I'm tired of seeing their work go unappreciated. I know that there is an audience who loves all kinds of roots based music- and would welcome the opportunity to be part of a community that connects with artists on a personal level. This group is such an opportunity.
Get together with other like-minded musicians, any level. Meet and perform together on all types of acoustic music; roots, traditional, folk, bluegrass, old-timey, Americana, whatever songs the group brings for the night. Mostly, its to have fun and play in a relaxed atmosphere.
This group was started to help create a single place to find House Concerts in the Philly area. Initially I'll post concerts onto the calendar as Notes (with a link to more information about the event), and if the House Concert host desires, you'll be able to RSVP right here from Meetup. My theory is that there are lots of people on Meetup who are looking for unique experiences, and I'd love to connect you all to the House Concert experience. What is a House Concert? A house concert is an even …

The Greenwich Acoustic Music Circle (GAMC) is a monthly play/sing along jam for acoustic instrumentalists and for singers. We welcome people at all levels of ability. It's simply an evening of sharing great songs with others in a friendly and supportive environment. How it works: We go around in a circle and every person has an opportunity to lead, suggest, or request at least one song, though usually we get to two or three go rounds. For the first two times around, we ask that everyone look …
This group is for intermediate and beginner (advanced beginner) level guitar players that enjoy playing acoustic guitars with others in a casual setting. We are also looking for singers who want to participate in the group. The genre of music will be mainly contemporary and classic rock, pop, alternative, and R&B. You should like to play covers from Coldplay, Radiohead, U2, Foo Fighters, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, and The Beatles to name a few. This group is not really geared for those intere …
